The Christmas Babe Poem by Myrtle Thomas

The Christmas Babe

Most see a babe in swaddling clothes
on birthday celebrations galore
with lights and gaiety, brightly shining
but he is a babe no more

He came to the earth to teach the world
of his Father's laws
to bring true love to who will believe
and be called by his name

Of flocks of sheep who follow close
the shepherds footsteps firm
and graze in the lush food of his word
a friend in him true to the end
faithful, loyal, strong and Royal

From babe in swaddling clothes
to a teacher spreading his father's word
on to a sacrificial lamb, shedding his life's blood
he rose as he said he would to his heavenly home

Soon the clouds will shine forth our coming King
to change the government system from mankind
to Christ Kingdom
equal to everyone where evil does not exist
illness and death will be no more
with weapons of death will be no more
with weapons of death turned into plow shears
for there will be no more war

Those in death's deep sleep will soon resurrect
to live under Christ rule on earth
for Satan will be locked away for a thousand years
while Christ Kingdom learns more from him
of peace and love for all.
