The Circle Poem by Claude H Oliver II

The Circle

Land of spirit
Spirit of land
And the universe
Honoring sun and moon
And her children on this land
Living with all life
Respecting the web of life.

Overrun by greed
Assaulted by desire for power over all
Embattled on all sides
By darkness of spirit
Souls dipped in the sauce of death.

Yet even ashes remain - part of all that is
Death merely a necessary transition
In the river flow of life.

The elders, though departed
Must be smiling
As they see our search
For spirit - oneness - life
And love, the ever present glue
Giver of purpose
Bringer of joy and pain of life.
