The Circus Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

The Circus

'Did you see the many acts? ' I cried

'Indeed, I did.' says she

'Weren't they ever so interesting? ' says I

'Oh, ever interesting! ' says she

'Did you see the one with the lions too? ...and the tamer and the clowns that clean up the poo poo? ' inquired I

'Did you feel the roar of the crowd and the silence on bated breath when the trapeze artist soared and the high-wire artist leapt? ' inquired I

'Did you hear the claps and laughter at the trick with the politician? ...Where he promised peace on earth and then they shot him out the canon? ' inquired I

'Indeed I did, ' says she 'those were my favorite three! '
