The Cloud Of Unkowing Poem by Isam Hussain

The Cloud Of Unkowing

Doubting leads to questioning,
questioning to full knowledge.
Follow the trail, be unwavering,
you will succeed, so said the sage.

The years go by, the ground moves away,
your burden becomes lighter day by day,
the goal appears to be within sight
when your soul enters its Dark Night.

The gravest of doubts now assail you,
there are no certainties to hold on to,
no firm ground to stand upon
you've crossed the Rubicon.

Full knowledge is now a mirage,
an illusion peddled by the sage.
The door behind you is now shut,
there's no going back to the past.

Darkness lifts, the dawn breaks,
but the sun is dimmed by a Cloud.
You hear voices, see shadows,
and you know you have arrived.

The chain of cause and effect,
doubting and questioning, is now broken;
the paths of the past are defunct,
all that was certain is now uncertain.

So seek the Cloud of Unknowing,
the Truth awaits your beckoning.
