The Comet Over The Palace Poem by DR.BHAGYA CHANDRA RAJKUMAR

The Comet Over The Palace

On my seventh birthday,
We saw the comet stretching over the sky.
My mother asked me to wish.
I wished for candy.
She smiled!

When I was at high school,
We saw the comet painted on the sky.
My teacher asked me to wish.
I wished to pass the examination.
He smiled!

As a teenager
We saw the comet passing through our eyes.
My loved one asked me to wish.
I wished for our union.
She smiled!

When I became a father
We saw the comet tail streaking across the sky.
My wife asked me to wish.
I wished for the prosperity of family.
She smiled!

I was old and grey when
We saw the comet over the palace at dawn.
People asked me to wish.
I wished for the peace of my birthplace.
Nobody smiled!

At the hour of my death
We saw the comet as harbinger of doom.
My Guru asked me to wish.
I wished to be born again at this place of birth.
Nobody heard!
