The Conscious Flesh Poem by Paul Hartal

The Conscious Flesh

In the glorious colors of the early morning
flows the checkered energy of cascading life.
The terrene body beholds the ambient mass,
the fathoming flesh perceives and measures.
The earth reveals itself to the sensing soma
and fall leaves fall as the sky broadcasts
a radiant azure.

Now, inside of you,
amino-acid peptides stream,
molecular messengers carry vital information.
Emotions emerge, feelings rise,
comprehension forms, consciousness oscillates,
the mind compressed becomes the body,
the body becomes the mind:
the transformative tissue
of the undulating cosmos.
