The Cowgirls Dream Poem by Jackie Kirby

The Cowgirls Dream

Rating: 5.0

Drifting off to the world of dreams
I think of you.
Dogs are barking out by the barn
Run out to see whats wrong
But when i get there the dogs
are sleeping
Think i was dreaming
I turned to walk away id swear
i heard your voice
Went to the barn and opened the doors
Looking around my heart began to break
from memories we shared
Your horse is in his stall with his head
hanging low
Think he knows you'll not be returning
home
Back into the house i go by your saddle
i do sit
Think of the love we shared And the
night you picked that bull
I knew he'd be the death of you
When you came off he not once stopped
pounding away on you
Your best friend grabbed your horse an rode
right in As your friend jumped off your horse
took on the bull
Your friend ran to your side But when i saw
the tears from eyes id knew you had died
They came in shot the bull
But my love it was to late to save you I'll always
dream of the love we shared
Am i dreaming is this really i feel the warmth of
your touch Smell the Stetsons you always wore
In a soft whisper i hear these words Baby i love
one day our love will share again
Am i dreaming are this this real I don't know any
more Then i look onto the bed your bull rope was
laying there
Seen a shadow of a cowboy with angel
wings And i knew it wasn't
a dream
