The Creature Poem by Lucas Lingerfelt

The Creature

Somewhere in a broken heart
Is a broken Creature
Who will live its life apart
For its now broken feature

A Creature of love
That once fueled peace
Flutters as a dying dove
Breathing so its' heart won't cease

It has lived its course
Its time has come
In a cry of remorse
Its voice becomes dumb

And when death is ever nearer
Something blooms in its heart
The Creature listens for what it can hear
Then feels the sting of a dreamy dart

A glorious aurora swells its cave
It consumes the creature in its folds
This array of light was sent to save
To heal the Creature of the bitter cold

Pink, orange, red, and green
Grow brighter and brighter
Bringing new life a new sheen
Coloring the Creature much whiter

Its ivory colored fur
And Caribbean eyes
It's pain a distant blur
It's graceful form that flies

New life is born in the Heart of Man
The Creatures home is healed
Love will run where it once ran
The Creature of Love is sealed
