The Day I Cried Poem by James Papastamos

The Day I Cried

Rating: 3.0

As thunders roared a friendly drone
And lightening cast its fatal dart
My thoughts were deafened by such tone
Unable to reason “why” at heart

With tears to stream an empty grave
Contain its soil, not moist by chance
Its cries would pierce what God could save
My restless soul would sing and dance

The gun was armed, its shots could bore
A wound to mark my place in time
I fired a shot, then begged for more
The skies were red, and thunders rhymed

The day I cried, I’d laugh once more
