The Day My Sky Fell Down Poem by nicola burkett

The Day My Sky Fell Down

The day my sky fell down,
The day my knees hit the ground.
The day i couldn't see,
The person my nan used to be.
I remember my mind running wild,
Flash backs of me as a child.
Running in nan's garden swinging on the hammock,
Then reality hits, a sick feeling in my stomach.
Sweaty palms, heart beating fast,
Scared of whats to come, how long will she last?
The day my sky fell down,
The day my knees hit the ground.
The day i was forced to say goodbye,
The day they told me my nan had died.

Nicola, I feel this was a good way to express such love for your nan that passed away. I think those of us who had loving Grandmothers are so blessed. Thanks for sharing it. Sincerely, Connie Webb
