The Day Your Heart Stopped Poem by Rachel Brewer

The Day Your Heart Stopped

The day your heart stopped,
So did mine.
It didn’t stop forever, but for a split second, I felt like I died with you.
I wanted to.
I didn’t want to go on without you,
I cried and cried until my body ran out of tears,
On the day your heart stopped.
I know you couldn’t help it,
I know it was your time,
My only regret is that my time wasn’t first.
I wish I was dead, to be with you.
My love, always and forever, there will be no others in my heart and I know I will always be in yours.
So I will see you soon,
My time is near,
I know this.
How would I keep on living without you? I must go soon?
I wouldn’t be able to take this pain for much longer.
This pain I felt,
On the day your heart stopped.
So I won’t cry any more,
And I won’t say goodbye,
Because all I know,
Is that my heart will stop soon,
And I will join you,
Someone else will feel the way I feel now,
On the day my heart stops.
