The Dead And Their Ashes. Poem by Hardik Vaidya

The Dead And Their Ashes.

The dead and their ashes.

Dhanavidyaa, Vinayvaatee, Vidyulekhaa,
Natvarlaal, Madhusudan, Prahlaad.

Names, alphabetical permutes,
To me my grand parents.

One died an amputee, the other asphyxiated,
Vidyaa in peace.

The ashes, not between England and Asutralia.
A true gentlemans game.
I won them,
Covering tiny spaces of my being,
They shine, adorn as jewels of heavens.

The men, they lie silent,
In dark yet intense meditation,
Backdrop of the vast space,
That joins these women,
And makes their ashes,
Shine on me.
Star dust.

Hardik Mahesh Vaidya.

Notes:

Natvarlaal and Dhanvidyaa my maternal grandparents.
Madhusudan and Vinyavatee my paternal grandparents.
Vidu and Prahlaad my grandparents.
