The Deal At The Crossroads Poem by Jason Sherrill

The Deal At The Crossroads

The sky swallows the light
and gives birth to the dark
The moon belongs to the night
and on my heart leaves a mark

Beating eternal forever lost
wrenching and tormented by death
Selling my soul without knowing the cost
closer now with every breath

So here at the crossroads I lay
and I look upon oblivion
I know it is here I must stay
regretting the deal thats been done

For what did I give it for
and you beg me and beg me to tell
My life eternal, my core
why is it I gave my soul to sell

The man in the moldy cloth knows
the man with the grin
The man who the darkness flows
the man who torments men

I sold it for you
the one i always think of
The one my heart holds true
for you my lost love
