The Devil In Me Poem by Jennifer Segbefia

The Devil In Me

The devil in me tells me I can't finish the race
Even when I'm almost at the finish line
The devil in me tells me I'm up to no good
Even when all I think of is best
The devil in me tells me I would remain on the ground
Even when I'm rising
The devil in me discourages me
Even when I'm encouraged
The devil in me saddens me
Even when I'm glad
So I ignore the devil in me
And I allow myself to dream
And wish for all that is good
And I allow myself to believe in my dreams
And I smile as my dreams turn to realities
And I tell myself that
The devil in me is nothing but a liar!
