The Devil Is A Lady Poem by Ted Sheridan

The Devil Is A Lady

Rating: 5.0

I first saw her out of the corner of my eye
counting her money as she hopped on one foot.

The one legged lady in red said to me,
'Pay me
pay me for my time
and for my undivided attention
pay me for doing nothing
pay me to testify for you
and I will swear it was him
pay me to leave you alone
or to care about you
even when I don't
pay me to take away your pain
kiss your feet
or rub your back
get a room
but just pay me first
It's all I want
don't pay me with kisses
or hugs
don't pay me with promises
and worthless love
don't pay me with sex
I can get all of that I want
pay me with dollars
all them dead presidents
pay me well
and I will be your gun for hire
or your whore for the night
pay me
but play me and I will pay
to see you dead'

And with that she showed me
where to sign on the.............................line
