The Distant Shoreline Poem by Sierra Staten

The Distant Shoreline

Rating: 4.0

On the distant shoreline,
My true love waits for me.
All I can see is a shadow
But I know we're meant to be.

I smile as I swim to him,
Across the roaring sea,
Imagining what lies ahead,
And what has become of thee.

But My trip to the distant shoreline
It Shortens as we speak,
And now I can see clearly,
You have forgotten me.

Accompanied by another,
You smile and you play,
What once was a bright blue sky,
Has now been stained grey.

Now I am a newspaper
Wet and freezing cold
All Alone and Broken,
Sitting on the side of the road.

I see the distant shoreline,
From that of where I came.
I have no choice but to return
For Here, I am nothing.

But The distant shoreline,
That was my destination..
broken-hearted and in pain
I drowned in frustration..
