The Divine Love-Isle Of Hope Poem by VICTORIA HEIM

The Divine Love-Isle Of Hope

Candleglow - the halos glimmer
on the sacred portraits - icons
communicate examples of piety
a kiss delivered for the nearness of devotion
acceptable for veneration
Orthodox - true belief
worship under the wondrous mosaic vaults
the church forms a Greek cross
Rising incense
before the holy altar
one loses all pretense
Words of the Liturgy
the agelessness of the Nicene - Constantinopolitan Creed
Dedication to charity - glimpse the Divine Love - Isle of Hope
Adoration for the Giver of Life
respond to another's suffering
remember the 'forgotten' souls that live on Leros
The shining Eminence- Fanari bids go in Peace
