The Dog Poem by shakil ahmed

The Dog

The Dog

I have a pet
A high bred dog
That sees with its cogent eyes
Piercing the chilling fog.

He ambles silently
Just like a placid deer
Wagging his tale, he wanders
Without exhibiting any fear.

He always barks
But seldom bites
No one comes to my yard
Out of fear of its smites.

He watches my house
Throughout the whole night
If a thief comes
He begins to fight.

If he hears
The cry of awl
Then and then
My dog begins to growl.

Exposing his white teeth
My dog snarls
I love my dog
More than pearls.

He is faithful and true
In every season
And doesn’t leave me
For no reason.

He is good friend of mine
Whom I love most
And don’t want to lose
At any cost.

I try my best
To make him gay
In return he remains faithful
Night and day.

My dog
My true and faithful pet
He snarls in rage
When he sees a cat.
