The Dream That Left Poem by Adesola Tomilade

The Dream That Left

Rating: 4.0

Will you say my dreams for me?
Will you help me remember it?
Coz I had a dream last night
A dream I cherish so that night

But as soon as morning came
And as soon I became gay
The dream left me with a haste
Like it had a destin far away

Will you say my dream for me?
Will you help me remember it?
Coz I had a dream last night
A dream that gave me such a smile

But as soon as the day rose
And as soon I woke up whole
My dream left me without a thought
Like it had a focus for other worth.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Afterthought:
We all have dreams. Dreams so sweet that sometimes, we wish not to wake up, just so that we could continue in the dreams. But suddenly, as the day rises and as we are jolted back to reality, the dreams vanish into thin air, and we tend to forget those beautiful dreams as the activities of the day take over our thoughts. Our dreams for The future are as beautiful as dreams we dream (not nightmares o!) . But as soon as we begin to advance in life, The harsh realities of life gradually push those beautiful dreams into thin air, and those beautiful plans for the future simply become wishful thinking. If only there'll be a second person who'll gently help us focus on our dreams. If only the society would help us realise those dreams. If only there were enabling environments for that dream to flourish and thrive... Just if only...
