The Dying Ember Poem by Anand Vijaykumar

The Dying Ember

Loneliness sat solitary under the tree
Empathising with a forsaken fallen leaf
but suddenly a brand new sapling
sprang out to make its own destiny
and sheer joy replaced the pain
of the debilitating vacuum of loss
and found sustenance of hope and faith
just by lifting a dying ember
and seeing the beam beneath.
Birth blurs the sharp pain of death
Light spurs us through darkness
Heat warms the freezing cold
Youth shoulders the weakness of the old
Cool shade protects from the tawny sunlight
and dawn clears out the smudges of the night
So, new life, lifting the veil of deathliness
beckons to an enduring happiness...
