The Earth He Walked On Poem by June Elizabeth Matthews

The Earth He Walked On

The Earth He walked on,
Not alone, we followed as He trod,
He led us not visible, but unseen,
His hands in ours, to grasp at times in need,
And when our darkest hour has come,
He sheds His love all enveloping,
Around us light!
To gently take us in His arms,
and bring us to the everlasting light,
And when in sorrow we are lost and afraid,
The pain and grief are long,
He whispers words of love to us,
And keeps us going on,
Then memories come, replacing dreams,
Of sadness at one's loss, The thoughts of things, one did and said,
Of walks! And love! And things gone past!
And when the tears start up, a memory shall eclipse!
To bring a smile, for love has not passed,
but is waiting at your side!
