The Former Wise Ex (Now I Know He Ran From Trouble) Poem by Seyi Akin

The Former Wise Ex (Now I Know He Ran From Trouble)

She found a field, she took it, she loves to have it so.
The world she hoped to have, and so her heart doth run,
Entwined around by follies, the which she called her friends
And these to scared to say the errors of her ways
She sits as queen among, her many lies and pride
No one to show the way, that virtuous women trod.
She speaks to all as though, her knowing saw it all
And yet the obvious path tiled in drudgery and vain
In all matters she must a meddler loud and along
She loves to play and pay the highest prize of it
Sometimes it cost her home, she flings it in the mud
Her friends are wise to keep, their home in safe and prime
But she invites the world to unworthy feast of her kiln
Spying sisters nose around for the tattle in her home,
By which her bondages further enhanced in their covens
And the talkative in her always yielding to the slide
Away from these I see, the fear that made men run
The first I heard was wise because he left the dregs
Into this brutal heart, I foolishly assailed
And now so hard I found, her troubadour in a Court
