The Gentle Samurai Poem by Margaret Kollmer

The Gentle Samurai

Rating: 3.5

I wrote this for my cousin Shaun who was such a comfort when
I visited his family in England a year after the death of my
dear husband Les. Sadly, Shaun himself passed away in 2000.

Along with the mists of autumn
and the fall of the bronze shaded leaf
Came the soft gentle tread of the Samurai
to comfort a heartfelt grief.

Bearing gifts of tender thoughtfulness
of gallantry, care and love;
The soft gentle tread of the Samurai
brought peace as from Heaven above.

The guiding hand of this spiritual guard
enlightened the path of my way....
Then the soft gentle tread of the Samurai
moved silently away.
