The Ghost Of Your Ghost Poem by Shalyn Stachmus

The Ghost Of Your Ghost

Rating: 5.0

'Are you gone? '
Yes, but you cannot come along.
'Is this the end? '
This is the end.
'I'm afraid.'
Take my hand.
'I want to but I can't…because I'm dreaming, only dreaming, but never
one so sweet.'
I heard you breathing. Your lonely weeping forms a whisper in the deep.
'You heard me breathing, while I lay sleeping, and yet you have no life…? '
Yes, that's exactly right.
'Should we say goodbye? '
Yes, let's say our goodbyes tonight.
'I wish I was dreaming right now.'
What do you wish to dream about?
'I want to have a chance to not let you down.'
No one saw me there, no one knew. No one ever saw me down there. Even you.
'I know. I'm so, so sorry…'
But who said life was fair?
'Oh, to have a penny for your thoughts right now.'
But I have no life, recall. So my thoughts don't count.
'Are you gone…? '
