The Grass Is Not Greener Poem by Holly Lewis

The Grass Is Not Greener

You swept me high of my feet day dot
All the pain I'd previously felt was all forgot
You treated me like no other had before
I felt like a princess and wanted you more
You had a lot of problems going on
I stood by you and tried to keep you strong
It hurt to find all what was happening
That's when things slowly started to sting
Things went from bad to worse
It was as though I had become a curse
You took things back what you gave to me
All because you wanted to be free
Remember the pain that you have caused
And before you do it again take a pause
Remember that people have feelings too
And then think about what you say and do
The grass is greener on the other side
Whoever told you that they clearly lied
After being single for over two years
It gets harder and harder to hold back the tears
With two young girls to keep me strong
I wake up and know I have to move on
But the second my girls are down to sleep
I feel the pain as then I begin to weep.
You can spend your life being alone
Sleeping around without what you think is a moan
But as time goes on you will realise
That it wasn't the moaning that you despised
Having someone to make you moan
And having someone at the end of the phone
Makes you feel warm and makes you tingle
Can't see why anyone prefers to be single.
Good luck with what you think is the greener side
As I know that soon you will be on the down hill ride
It's quick and it hurts and you will no longer feel free
As it will dawn on you that all you really wanted was me.
