The Greatest Love I've Ever Known...

The man that once I loved
Has gone away
Where did he go?
I do not know…
He changed my life
Without a backward glance
He walked away
He didn’t say
I will return
To claim your love,
Your mind and soul
I will regain.

Now he is standing at the door
Can I come back? He asked
Can I have your heart again?
Like once before you let me in.
The pain is written in his deep green eyes,
Like once before it was in mine,
When you walked away from me
Leaving me struck with grief,
For I have lost the greatest love
I’ve ever known.
Now you came back
To ask again for my love to share
What should I do?
I do not know…
For he is the greatest love
I’ve ever known...
You tell me what a big mistake
Was for you to leave my love behind
For no one else have ever loved you
With the love I had for you those days.

Now you return
To turn my life around once again
You couldn’t find
What all along was left behind
Yes, you were the greatest love
I’ve ever known.
Where is the love I felt for you has gone? You ask
I do not know…I reply
For it might be gone with all the tears,
The pain and sorrow
Flowing like a river down the mountains
For my heart couldn’t stop them

With you were gone the laughter,
The happiness, the joy of life
And left was just the deepest sadness
That a heart could ever carry…
For you were the greatest love I’ve ever known…

My heart got lost in those deep green eyes,
Lost in memories…
Aching for they are no longer here,
Memories of the greatest love I’ve ever known…
Memories of love…memories of when before
Our love was strong…
Where were you my love? When tears touched my mouth
For my lips your kiss desired

Fear has come to keep me company,
For my heart couldn’t find the easy feeling
That once before your presence gave me,
My treacherous heart, you have betrayed me
I fear the pain, I fear your love…
For you have been the greatest love I’ve ever known…

Confusion fills my mind…
You want my love, you said…
You were in fact the greatest love I’ve ever known…
Fear has filled the empty space in my heart,
Love and fear, not good together…
For the love was the greatest love I’ve ever known…
And fear faithful companion…Is also the greatest fear I’ve ever felt…
