At noon, under the green umbrella
I lay on my back to watch the leafy waves
And the alternating luster of the sun,
Falling occasionally to the lull of lazy abandon
A dense liquid sensation creeping down
To hold even the bed of old leaves and grass
The cool wind’s intoxication blanketing
Till dusk when the evening prayers
Accompany assorted colours
Where light competes darkness.
What are these opposites – darkness and light
Love and hate, but light cannot be light without the other
And things are safe for me till this green umbrella
Is blown away by unseen winds.
A superb metaphorical write. The interplay of light and darkness makes this a very meaningful poem picture. One of your best, Raveendran.10/10. Always your friend at poemhunter, Sandra

Green is the perfect color for your umbrella - green being the color of the Anahata Chakra, the heart center; And love being at the core of your thoughts of black and white, darkness and light, sorrow and joy. You have described the paradox of opposites with great ingenuity and skill in this fine poem and your final line leaves the reading wondering.... Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
