The Grudge Poem by Engy El Ghanam

The Grudge

Rating: 3.0

Why spare a breath to hold a grudge
Or waste a blink on a glimpse not meant to last
Why is the haste to smudge
The urge inside to hold the glare of past

That inward fear of letting go
The scarcity of the courage to face
the facts that life unleashed for you
to try to keep up with its pace

the unwilling heart to move along
shall first diminish any thought of life it knew
then bound itself to a pledge so strong
to Complicate the simple & deny what's true

I kneel before the thoughts that break me down
yet I defy the logic to their existence
in the crashing waves of present they ought to drown
and I by turn must seek some distance

I lost a bet, I did, and care less if again I lose
Its not about the things we leave behind
but only those we stick to choose
