I can bet you never knew
that I had such strong feelings for you
maybe you caught on just a bit
but never heard a word or sight of it

I look at you
I try not to stare
I'm sure if you saw me
you wouldn't even care

but to catch your eyes
never an easy thing to handle
bluer than the ocean
and brighter than a candle

I can't say this has just happened
maybe I never realized it
but I could be like him
I just don't get the benefit

of having you by my side
pressing my lips to yours
falling for all that
that tempting allure

emanating from you
each and every day
I try to stay away
but lord knows it ain’t easy

but this isn't love I feel
just some sort of affection
purely aesthetic
going in a strange direction

if I can feel all this
just cuz of your pretty face
than having you with me
it'd make my heart start to race

writing all these poems
looking at you in class
gotta love that puppy love
from crush to crash

and it knocks you down
I just get up
takes me a second
but I never give up

move forward with life the same
playing the worldly game
love the word of shame
tainted with volumes of pain

who knows what can happen
maybe we'll get together in the future
but for now
I'm just the guy in the corner
