The Hard Working Fellow Poem by Francis Duggan

The Hard Working Fellow

With a wife and children to upkeep and with huge bills to pay
He rises from his bed before sunrise every working day
Life is not meant to be easy as George Bernard Shaw did say
At least that's how it does seem for him anyway
No need to tell him of how hard life can be
With huge bills to pay how can one feel care-free
Devoted to his children and devoted to his wife
On their behalf he has forsook an easier life
But of the hard life you won't hear him complain
Though a huge home mortgage to pay on his health puts a strain
He works hard so that his five year old girl and four year old boy
An easier life than him can enjoy
With a family to support and a living to make
The hard working fellow before dawn is awake.
