The Hat They Wore Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Hat They Wore

You know, we don’t often realize
How important it is what we wear
But back in the ‘olden’ days
People really did seem to care

Why it established your station in life
Like for instance the hat they wore
The style and the way it was perched
No, this isn’t just merely folk lore

We’ve often heard of white hats
Considered worn by the ‘good guy’
And the black hat was always
Owned by one you could not rely

So it’s fun to study the photos
From way back in the old west
Look at the kind of hats they wore
And realize what suited them best!
