The Heart Of Darkness Poem by Jyotishman Debnath

The Heart Of Darkness

IT is his intimacy with a monster
that fights against it's own happiness
it is his desire to fall
falling from the shadow or a name
falling from the grace

the lambada dance of the lost tribe
the smoke of stolen flame
the desire to play with the razors
taking thumb instead of onion

it is his misfortune and it's his celebration
he will drum his drum
he will sing his song
the drum will scream the celebration

not very long ago
he discovered a rat
inside the heart
inch by inch who reduces the size of the heart
making it a big vacuum
the broken edges of the heart
the silver fountains in the dreams
in the midst of a gory time
do they fit?

it is his desire to look at the sun as if it's a mirror
and to write an epitaph
to say goodbye to all the possibilities

he sheds some tears and says nothing
leaves that yellow pale

it is his intimacy with a monster
who fights against it's own happiness
and this is the last scene of the drama

welcome to the festival of death!
