The Hooting Dove ...... [birds; Personal; Selfishness; Very Short] Poem by Bri Edwards

The Hooting Dove ...... [birds; Personal; Selfishness; Very Short]

Rating: 5.0

Outside our office window, i hear a dove HOOT-hoot;
I wonder: 'Is it HOPING I'll throw out to it some seeds? '.

If it doesn't stop hooting, IT, I may have to swiftly-boot,
as all the seeds I have...are for OUR own damn needs!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I MADE A TYPO! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! AND I JUST CAUGHT IT. at least three times i read this poem and didn't notice that i left the 'l' out of 'swiftly', EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDERLINED IN RED BY COMPUTER! i thought it had to do with whether i wrote 'swifty boot' or 'swifty-boot'. ['boot', in this case, being a verb meaning 'to kick'.] i'm getting old! ha ha.

i wrote this 'for' a PH friend who had read and commented on one of my poems. now i 'have to' tell him of my faux pax. ['faux pas' is french, meaning false step. i didn't know how to spell it and didn't know 'false step' was what it meant in french, until i just looked it up. but i thought it was used properly.)

anyway, there was, and still is, a dove or doves 'hooting' or 'cooing' outdoors on this pleasant california day; why am i inside! ?
i DO put out seeds for birds, but usually not where the doves can or prefer to go to get them.
