The House I Bought? Poem by Dr John Celes

The House I Bought?

I bought a house, one newly built,
By loans from sources two;
My family yet, I could not shift,
I didn't know what to do.

I went often to see the house,
And kept it clean and neat;
It turned untidy, my one grouse,
I could not sleep or eat.

I yearned to live in my own house,
The time did never come;
Sometimes, my anger, it did rouse,
I kept on staying mum.

With love, I bought the house to live,
But others failed to see;
Some day, I would need it, not give,
I allowed things to be.

God sees our heart but man cannot;
This truth is very true;
If family members just will not
Adjust, what can one do?

Our loving Father made us all
And calls us His children;
Ungrateful we don't hear His call -
‘Keep soul pure for heaven.'

How hurt must Father God then be,
When man will not love Him!
He forgives every sin freely,
Cheers us when life turns grim.

I remembered what Jesus told,
When leaving world before-
‘My Father's house has mansions gold,
Prepare for you, I go.'

Do we realize God-Father's love,
That made us, heaven too?
We must toil for the things above,
Obey God, His Will do.
