The Indefinite Hero … Poem by Simon Chamoun

The Indefinite Hero …

A Daughter's first Love and
a Son's first Hero and Friend
We always celebrated Mom
but on your day forgot the Trend
Never but the nameless hero
that always gave and stood low
Your love is eternal and strong
no matter how hard the winds blow

You put food on my table
lit my house, paid all my dues
An endless support I ever got
never got selfish or cruel
Or thought of you on my expense
while I thought of mine a lot
Deprived you from your rights much
simple ones such as getting a hug

You gave me life and identity
I grew-up holding your name
Drove you mad for years that are many
till you got me stable and sane
Yet, on the same day of every year
I get busy, and what a disgrace
Instead of kneeling and praying for
the blessings of your saintly face

I know I am already forgiven
your dictionary holds no Hate
Nor a definition close for that
Love is your only belief and Faith
I can never thank you enough
nor ever pay back what you've given me
and still is, till the end of days

You told me I only will understand
when I hold my child in my arms
But I have hints of how great
your love is, with all its charms
I cannot wait to have a baby boy
so with pride he can hold your name
I pray I 'd offer him love like yours;
and to that, I shall forever aim

Father, I will make you proud
only that I know you ask for
I will cherish all what you taught me
even when you spoke no words
On your day I want to tell you
I love you a bit more than life
I know with a little prayer and thought
you will feel me true and right
