The Journey Home Poem by Lennox Jones

The Journey Home

The most amazing and profound miracle
One so obvious, yet sadly, may go unnoticed
If revered soon forgotten
It happens around us every day and has done so since the beginning of time
Brings the tough guy to his knees
Encumbered by emotions that may only be lived for a short while
As sometimes, like most things taken for granted.

In this moment of what I regard as the totality of miraculous
The suffering felt as pain and all of the emotions that one experiences, transcends
Like the mixing of chemicals on the periodic table
To a euphoric state of unconditional love
Alchemy at its best
Darkness to light.

What is this miracle you may ask
Look around you...
It is where simplicity resides...
For it is nothing more than the Miracle of Birth.
