The Last Journey Poem by Apurva Prabhudesai

The Last Journey

It was the last journey,
To visit his childhood home.
The place where he truly found bliss,
Never thought I would come back for this.

It made me wistful
Of a bygone time,
For this too was my home,
The one I had made for him.

They came home one day,
The day I never forget.
It was when time truly stood still.
But I was young and naive,
Not to realise what fate had in store for me.

They took me to a place,
He had learned to call home,
That one time I had let him go,
I knew I was gonna lose him,
Just how much I would never know.

They said he would be ok,
As I saw him lay still before me,
The village doctor would soon be there,
But I knew
In my heart of hearts
The angels had already visited him.
