The Last Symphony Poem by Jane Quijano

The Last Symphony

The stars glittered in the night
And the moon was hanging low;
But our feet had wings for curtain call
Of the last symphony...

My heart was filled with the music
Of the murmuring sea;
And waves danced with the rhythm
Then break as they kissed the shore!

My spirit floats
With the waves of your hair
And the stars laughed with joy!
Your heart was my raft, I was not afraid to toy!

As we watched the silence of the crescent moon
Descending the darkened horizon,
I heard yet another line -
The quickening heartbeat - dying soon
Like a pendulum
Fighting the hands of time!

The stars glittered in the night
And the moon was hanging low...
Now I touch your absence here
With the symphony in my soul...
