THE LEGENDARY

THE LEGENDARY
A great legend he WAS
I'm yet to achieve to what he DOSE
The proud prospect in my mind
Who raise the state flag to
Higher high positivity.

A Gambian in such helm ship
The chairperson stamp to his NAME
I am yet to see a Gambian shoe FAME
A great poet he DOSE
Dr. Lenries peters he WAS
Doctors Degree Decent.

My sad condolence
Say may thy soul lay
In peace.

Thee a mentor I motive MOST
And aim to achieve way MORE
To hang our state flag OVER
In the limit SKY.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

An appreciation to what Dr. Lenries peters has done for the Gambian literature and a tribute to his soul to rest in peace. I felt endemic and endear when i come across his poem among the WASSCE syllabus entitle the Fence... He is a gem and am proud to what he does.
