The Letter Poem by Rachael Hardy

The Letter

Rating: 4.8

What makes you think my passion is the same
I feel like an undesirable burning flame
Burning without meaning
Neglected in the night
Used to give off useless unwanted light
Like my fire
Your love will burn out
Your love will fade
Like vapor upon glass
Like sun upon rain
A night left alone
You call
You speak in that same old familiar tone
Offering nothing to my happiness
Just bringing more pain
My eyes are filled with hatred
I pity you and your lies
You that speak without thinking
You that cry your eyes dry
For the one you say you love
The one you claim is right
It seems impossible that you can ‘love’ us both
Bother not to waste your breath or your time
On insignificant three worded phrases
Or buy me useless daises
It cannot be returned
I love you not
I never will
