The Lighthouse Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

The Lighthouse

Rating: 4.1

Salty waves
of emotions in tears…
The lighthouse
flashing light
Red…
in the ocean's depths
Love…
one more teardrop
overflowing in becoming
Me…
merging with the sea.
From my window,
the lighthouse
intermittently
synchronizes its pulses
with my heart-beats;
Time…
elapsed
consuming life at night
while in a dream of warm eternity;
Solitude…
wrapped in chastity
of white sheets,
Waiting…
for the judgement day,
The soul…
becoming an angel;
The lighthouse
flashing light
Red…
‘You are alive,
Go back to bed! '.

In northern Minnesota, Lake Superior (I believe it is the second largest fresh water lake in the world) is dotted with lighthouses which inspire the same poem over and over, but your poem is an original approach to the setting and theme. Wonderful! My computer won't let me read your poem evoking Cyprus as Aphrodite's island.It skips through the poem but I can see enough to register its high quality. In my very first message to you I wrote you lived on Aphrodite's island! ! And speak to me is tender and sweet, it is so resonant. I'm thinking all three of these should be published in the anthology. Agreed? ! They make a kind of CYPRUS TRIO dealing with the physical place, its mythological past, its ethos (Speak to me) . All three are among my favorites by you and I'm sure readers of the anthology will relate to them readily.
