The Loner Poem by Margaret Kollmer

The Loner

Rating: 5.0

He stood in the pathway
of the promise of dawn
and shrugged at the
warning bells of time.

He dwelt in the shiver
of an autumn without hope
and wept -
so many hills to climb.

Then he laughed in the lap
of a bulging yellow moon
and bathed in the palm of the sun
and raised his glass to the
shadow of his soul:
Cheers!
Cocktails for one.
