The Long Day Of Anxiety Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Long Day Of Anxiety

Rating: 5.0

THE LONG DAY OF ANXIETY

The long day of anxiety
Moves toward a quieter evening
Errands have been done
Energy released
Physical tiredness
Makes the mind less eager to fear itself-

How many years now
Have I struggled with my own moods?
And why are there still days
When I am like a helpless child
A lost nothing
Who cannot do
And is not worth anything
To himself?

I am a bit calmer now
Soon I will go to Shul and pray Maariv
Perhaps then the demons of this day
Will leave me alone for good.

Anxiety and eagerness do dictate terms to us at many a times but one should try to protect self from being carried away under their influence. Calm and quite atmosphere at the place of worship may give us strength necessary to maintain tranquility of mind. Nice insightful write. Enjoyed the poem. Thanks for sharing.10 points.
