The Longer I Wait Poem by Ray Feasey

The Longer I Wait

The longer I wait the greater anxiety grows
Double-checking e-mails more than usual
This will not alleviate anxiety
Carry on with the tasks of the day and forget
Phones don’t ring when you wait for them?

Wipe mind of awaited call or mail
What’s next, perhaps pigeon post?
Accept and forget it, as it’s not to be
Then life continues and morale improves
With expectation put far behind you

How strange after all this time?
From nowhere and taken by surprise
As the unexpected caller is on your mobile
Great news relayed despite delay
Sometimes it pays to wait and not anticipate!
