The Longest Ever 7-Weeks Poem by Stephen Holland

The Longest Ever 7-Weeks

The longest ever Seven Weeks

We couldn’t stop to say goodbye
I couldn’t look you in the eye
To know for sure we had to wait
And painfully to separate
I slowly walked back to the car
We had our very own Au Revoir
Tears streaming rolling down my cheeks
The longest ever seven weeks

My love, has left and gone today
My life in total disarray
I watch and track the endless flight
I’m so so sleepless overnight
My heart then slowly put to ease
Your words a warm and calming breeze
Your loving email truly speaks
Of the longest ever seven weeks

‘Its 1 of 56 my love
There will be more consisting of
Reassurance, love, our life and tales
Are promises through my emails
A foretaste of our life to come’
You gave me life when I was numb
You truly are what my heart seeks
To start this longest seven weeks

We got to number twenty three
Knowing how hard Christmas would be
And so it proved not just that day
And so to me, to point the way
When 25 you felt your guilt
I thought we’d lost what we rebuilt
I’d shout it from the highest peaks
I’ll get us through the seven weeks

32 then dawned a brand new year
Both holding to what we held dear
Reaffirmed my dream which held so true
My pledges made for only you
Then one more painful day to cry
When you have one more last goodbye
I’m useless as an old antique
On this worst day of seven weeks

With only nine more days to go
I now have pain to face I know
But with your love and with your care
We have our dreams a life to share
We’re nearly there as time seems slow
We’re ready waiting, surely though
Could write a book on our techniques
Of getting through those seven weeks

‘I’m home my love, I’m finally home’
All doubts and fears now overthrown
If looking back causes you pain
And looking forward scares again
Look to your side because I’m there
It’s left to us now to declare
Our love is ours and not oblique
We made it through the seven weeks
