The Look Of Love Poem by Hazel Durham

The Look Of Love

Rating: 4.8

The darkness bleeding like an open wound into the day,
Her heart bleeding relentlessly as she looks out across the bay
To the horizon, as the darkness takes hostage the light of the day,
Now her husband has departed in this lonely month of May,

Plans they had made are now just dreams,
Like trying to catch a falling star along this solitary way,
Her tears fall like torrential rain with the terror of a looming thunderstorm,
Her husband gave his heart to her with all his love,

That made her feel she could walk on water,
He is now watching over her from the heavens above,
His presence is in nature's true love,
The ocean roaring her name with the crashing of waves along the shore,

Skies moving with her tears like brooding clouds ready to pour,
The force of the wind makes her husband's spirit real,
He is nature's best like God made a deal,
To make her feel he is still close to her heart,

Nature is her husband's spirit,
Released into the deep void of space,
He smiles at her with the look of love on his angelic face.

A touching poem laced with rich imagery. Bereavement is a harsh reality with one has to slowly cope up with and yet I am happy to note that the lady in the poem finds some succor she finds her husband's spirit in the forces of nature.

I love how you've linked nature with her husband's love and spirit, that his spirit is free to roam and she can still interact with him.

Death of her dear husband has left her in tears! Yet she knows that his spirit pervades the whole of Nature and looks upon her from the heavens! His angelic face radiant with a smile of love, she visualizes amid the stars! Beautiful and touching! A 10
