  The birdie was puffed up in pride

And expected her flight to be easy ride



But her feathers preened with loving beak

Was of little value in autumn winds at its peak



She struggled for balance

With scant knowledge of time in allowance



Her flight through thorny bushes by accident

Left her fine feathers with a lasting dent



Some missing feathers made wings appear comical

She still struggled to take flight; her determination ironical



She with continued effort in lopsided flight

Reached her destination still smiling bright!



Birdie we humans can take lessons from you

Before we bid this world adieu!
