The Loss Poem by anju addanki

The Loss

I have lost my husband, not to another-
But to drudgery and routine,
The garden of marriage
Which once sprouted love;
Now neglected and untended lies.
If it had been a woman who took him away,
I'd have fought to win back my man;
But to battle with a newspaper,
The ingenuity I lack!
If he drank, I'd give up in despair:
If he came home late,
I'd complain.
But i dont have wiles enough to compete,
with a cricket match!
Do i interest him no longer?
Have i lost the art of holding him?
Ever i utter a tender word in bed he snores,
For finally i have lost him to sleep.
