The Love You'Re Looking For Poem by Indrani Ananda

The Love You'Re Looking For

You have seen the sunlight scatter jewels on the meadowgrass;
You have heard the trees lament the winds and whisper as they pass;
Who knows where tomorrow waits, or where was yesterday before:
Only that we are forever -
I am the Love you're looking for.

You have seen the clouds build crystal canyons climbing to the sun;
You have seen the light from stars long dead before Earth was begun:
Who can turn the scythe of Time, or stay the shadows on the floor?
Only that we are forever -
I am the Love you're looking for.

You have seen the moon ride silver spaceships starward through her tears;
You have heard the ebb-tide counting pebbles for a million years;
Who knows where the wasteland ends, or who paints patterns on the shore?
Only that we are forever -
I am the Love you're looking for.

You have seen my shadow dance and waver in the candleshine;
You have heard my voice at lonely sunrise faintly calling out of Time;
Who knows where the lost years go, or sees the future through the door -
Only that we are forever -
I am the Love you're looking for.

You have found my ancient footprints in the crumbling fossil sand;
You have seen embossed the moondust where our future children stand;
Who knows where our lifepaths cross, from whence we came or went before;
Only that we are forever -
You are the Love I'm looking for,
You are the Love I'm looking for.
