i stare at the envelope
taking every inch of it in
trying to uncover anything
about the stranger
who's name is written
in pen
reading the letter over and over
trying to uncover the
man known to me only by
name
i read the words agian and agian
trying to find out as much as i can
about this man
who's hand writing is all i have
to claim to him him and my life
other than the fact that they say
he's my dad
